Amitayus Commentary*
with Geshe Ngawang Dakpa
Sunday, November 10, 3pm-5pm This is a part of "The Life and Legacy of Lama Tsongkhapa" presented by Tse Chen Ling. Tse Chen Ling’s longtime resident teacher returns to give a precious commentary on the long life practice of Amitayus in the tradition of Macig Drubpäi Gyälmo. Macig Drubpäi Gyälmo in English translates to Sole Mother Queen of Siddhis. This is the 11th-12th century CE female siddhā, considered a ḍākiṇī, that taught this long life practice to Rechungpa when he traveled to India from Tibet. Rechungpa was the heart disciple of Milarepa, and upon his return to Tibet he transmitted this lineage to Milarepa, and from there it has been transmitted widely through both branches of the Kagyu lineage, until it was received by Je Tsongkhapa who continued it in the Gelug lineage. While there are Action Tantra empowerments of Amitayus, that of Macig Drubpäi Gyälmo is a Highest Yoga Tantra practice *This program is open only to those who have received any Highest Yoga Tantra empowerment. There will be no practice commitment given to those who attend. Please note: this empowerment was given at Tse Chen Ling by the current Ganden Tri Rinpoche, Lobsang Tenzin, on June 9th, 2013.
