Practice the Perfection of Generosity

Tse Chen Ling Center is extraordinarily fortunate and privileged to have served the San Francisco Bay Community since 1990.  We now own our building and are looking ahead with a goal of sustainability so that we might offer service in the Dharma for another thirty years and well into the future. Membership is a wonderful way to help support a significant amount of our operating expenses, however, fundraising is necessary to achieve this goal of a sustainable and financially resilient Tse Chen Ling.

Outlined below are some special projects we would like to call to your attention.   Please join us in supporting them.

Geshe Support Fund
Geshe Ngawang Dakpa has been the heart of Tse Chen Ling since 1999. Geshe-la’s unending care and continuous teachings have created a wealth of in-depth Dharma programs for many students. In addition, Geshe-la’s tireless attendant, Ven. Jampa Thinley, continues to offer his selfless support to Geshe-la and the Center. Geshe-la has retired as our full-time Resident Teacher, but his kindness continues with a few precious teachings each year. Though we can never fully repay this kindness, Tse Chen Ling is committed  to providing stipends and health insurance along with dental and medical out-of-pocket costs for Geshe-la and Ven. Jampa.

In addition, under the recommendation of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Jampa has now become a second teacher for the Center. Tse Chen Ling supports a portion of Rinpoche’s health insurance along with offerings to Rinpoche and his attendant on each visit to Tse Chen Ling.

Teachers such as these make up the lifeblood of the Center in many ways. Please consider a generous donation in this area and even an annual offering.

Annual Cost: $17,700                 Raised to Date: $2,474                Amount to Goal: $15,226

Pay-Off the Mortgage Fund

We have been blessed to be able to purchase the lovely building in which the center resides. It is a comfortable facility with a main meditation/teaching area, bedroom with attached half-bath, eat-in kitchen with attached bathroom, two small staff offices, and a small yard with a storage shed.

Our monthly mortgage payments are $1,942 and our remaining balance is about $312,000. We would like to pay down the mortgage each year by $40,000 so we can minimize interest fees. This will enable Tse Chen Ling to develop a healthy financial plan for future programming and staffing needs insuring a stable and manageable place to practice

Annual Cost: $40,000                 Raised to Date: $8,100               Amount to Goal: $31,900

Building Maintenance and Utilities Fund

Picture
Owning a building in San Francisco has a variety of costs to maintain Tse Chen Ling in a manageable and cost-effective way. We feel there is great value in keeping the building and property well maintained to provide a comfortable and safe environment for our teachers, members, volunteers, and all participants. In addition, the cost of our utilities makes up an additional $5,000 of yearly expenses.

Annual Cost: $9,500                     Raised to Date: $_______          Amount to Goal: $9,500

TCL Staff Fund

All of Tse Chen Ling’s activities are organized by an incredibly dedicated team of volunteers. This includes even key positions such as our Director and Spiritual Program Coordinator (SPC). Our goal for sustained center health and development is to start providing partial support for these key positions and work up to creating paid staff positions as needed
Annual Cost: $24,000                     Raised to Date: $2,885             Amount to Goal: $21,115
