Discovering Buddhism: Samsara and Nirvana
with Venerable Robina Courtin
Wednesdays: May 5th - 26th
(four sessions)
6:00pm - 7:30pm PDT
Via Zoom. Registration is required.
Program Description:
The terms samsara and nirvana describe how life is, and how it could be. We are all stuck in samsara — our lives seem to be an endless cycle of ups and downs, hope, fear, pleasure, pain, achievement and disappointment, where we are perpetually wanting something else and our happiness and satisfaction don't last for very long. But things don't have to be this way. The Buddha taught that it is possible to completely transform our lives and experience a state of lasting happiness, freedom and joy. This is nirvana — a state of everlasting peace and well-being.
In this module, we will investigate what samsara is and how we are stuck in it. We’ll find out what nirvana is and how to achieve it. And we’ll develop the determination to become free from suffering and gain confidence in applying practical tools to deal with and eliminate disturbing emotions forever.
"Samsara and Nirvana" is Module 9 in the FPMT Discovering Buddhism Program. See our website for more information about Discovering Buddhism or any of the FPMT Education Programs. https://www.tsechenling.org/discovering-buddhism.html
Venerable Robina is allowing students to register for individual sessions if they can’t attend the entire four-week course.
