This course will be presented via Facebook livestream on Tse Chen Ling Center for Buddhist Studies’ Facebook page.

From the life story of Jey Tsongkhapa (1357-1419), we know of his special connection with Manjushri, the Buddha of wisdom. Throughout his life, this connection was reflected in auspicious signs during his youth and later as meditative visions of Manjushri as he embarked on his journey of study, practice and retreat. At one point in his life, Tsongkhapa was able to begin receiving direct spiritual instruction from Manjushri with the ability to check his realization of the profound view of emptiness directly with the deity.

In this special event, Thupten Jinpa PhD. will share with us an examination of a particular instruction which Tsongkhapa received directly from Manjushri in a vision while in retreat in the Wolkha Valley in Tibet, and later memorialized into an eighteen-lined root text. Thupten Jinpa will interweave stories from Tsongkhapa's journey to gaining final insight into the view of emptiness and the role Manjushri's instructions played in this.

In preparation for this event, Dr. Jinpa has advised that we look at the Tsongkhapa’s text “In Praise of Dependent Origination."  You can download the text here:
