Parenting in Times of Stress
with Pam Cayton

Karuna Cayton
Sunday, June 7, 10:30am - 12pm
Offered Livestream on Facebook

According to Buddha we have all been each other’s parents and children countless times, and yet this most natural function of birthing and parenting can be the beginning of a most profound journey of self-development. Through the ups and downs, the loving times, the times of frustration, whether we are sick, exhausted, stressed or just plain tired, our job of parenting does not go away. We can’t just shake it off! It’s with us for life!

Through an integration of the wisdom of Buddha’s teachings with the everyday realities of parenting, we will explore some ideas on parenting in times of stress.

About the Presenter

Pam Cayton, mother of three, has worked with children and families for more than 40 years, 10 of which were in Nepal where she met her teacher, Lama Thubten Yeshe.  In Nepal she helped organize courses in Buddhism, including the November Kopan Meditation Course that attracts hundreds of participants from around the world. With her husband, Karuna Cayton, she founded what is now known as the Himalayan Buddhist Meditation Center in Kathmandu.

After moving to California, inspired by Lama Yeshe’s concept of Universal Education, a secular approach to awakening compassion and wisdom – Pam founded the first Universal Education school in the world: Tara Redwood School in Soquel, CA

In 2008 she launched “Creating Compassionate Cultures” (CCC) for developing trainings and tools to share its methodology. Pam has offered workshops in ten countries for people working with children, youth and families. Her book, Compassion in Education, is now available in French, Spanish and English.
