1-Day Practice Intensive -
Prajnaparamita Practice with Heart Sutra Recitation
|
Program Description: Join us for a day-long practice intensive focused on the heart of Buddhist wisdom, Prajnaparamita practice with Heart Sutra recitation. Led by senior nun Ven. Lozang Yönten, this in-depth day of practice will combine the presentation of the ultimate view of emptiness according to Buddhism, group recitation of the Heart Sutra and meditation on its profound meaning. By understanding the way in which persons and things actually exist, we can learn to relate to all aspects of life in a more meaningful and balanced way, allowing us to eliminate our own suffering and that of others. Mahayana Buddhism teaches us that the only thing that can directly cut ignorance, which is the root of suffering and samsara, is the wisdom realizing emptiness. The Heart Sutra is the most widely known sutra of the Mahayana tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. It is part of the Prajnaparamita Sutras, which is a collection of about 40 sutras composed between 100 BCE and 500 CE. The Heart Sutra is a presentation of profound wisdom on the nature of emptiness. Reading and reciting the Heart Sutra is a powerful way to create the conditions for having a direct realization of emptiness. There is no prerequisite for this event outside of having a respect for the Dharma. |
Registration: Advanced registration is required. We offer all Dharma teachings and center events on a “dana” basis. This means we’re grateful for your generosity but there is no required cost to attend and no one is turned away for lack of funds. Suggested donation amounts are provided, and we welcome you to offer what you can to help us sustain our programming and make the dharma and events like this possible. And of course, ordained sangha (ordained nuns and monks) are always welcome free of charge. If you're not donating at this time but would like to attend, please email [email protected]. |
